Los Angeles

Welcome to our Ecstatic Dance Los Angeles event page. We come together every first and third Sunday of the month to access the power of music song and dance. #EDLA is a drug free, all ages, recreational conscious dance playground. We’ve been holding regular events since 2014, and wether you’re new to the dance or a veteran dancer we hope you’ll join us for this next event Sunday, October 6th, 2019.

We’re excited to welcome DJ Maasha to play for us again. Maasha's work is geared toward bringing people together to inspire spontaneity, acts of kindness, unity and social change. The major driving force behind her DJing is her dedication to the evolution of consciousness. On her turntables DJ Maasha spins house, pop, rock, hip hop, dubstep, oldies, funk, reggae, gypsy cosmic punk, classical music, electronic dance music, psytrance, folk, tribal beats, experimental, etc. She’s got the perfect eclectic mash up of tunes for an ecstatic dance and we’re eagerly waiting to get busy with her on the dance floor.

We also have a special Yogic Dance of Liberation warm up co-facilitated by Parashakti and Joe K. of Urban 728 Hot Yoga. Come experience yoga and blindfolded shamanic dance to align your body, mind, and soul before the freeform dance begins. We hope to #seeyouonthedancefloor

YOGIC DANCE OF LIBERATION™

Discover the fiery lights of your most authentic self through the healing art of yoga and the freedom of dance.

The energy of aliveness surrounds us, working to heal, serve, and guide us towards inhabiting our highest, most integrated selves. Tap into that divine energy and open pathways to embodied consciousness and wholeness with a graceful, heart and soul-opening blend of yoga, dance, and shamanic exploration.

We will ride these metaphorical waves of energy while activating our flow state by integrating mindfulness, pranayama (breath), yoga asanas (postures) with an experience that is both communal and deeply individual, known as Dance of Liberation™.

Dance of Liberation™ sheds inhibitions, heightens inner awareness and awakens joy. Founded by Parashakti, and based on a series of shamanic practices known as the 7 Foundations, this powerful soul work will be blended with the masterful instruction of Joe K, whose yoga practice encourages kindness, radiance, health, and an in-depth practice of renewal.

Working on both an individual and a group basis, Parashakti has successfully adapted the teachings of the Dance of Liberation™ as a modality for recovery from addiction. She was the Spiritual Director at Breathe Life Healing Center an inpatient treatment facility and Co-founder of Sanctuary in the City an outpatient treatment program at Recover Integrity in Los Angeles.

JOE K
Joe K is the founder and owner of Urban 728 Hot Yoga in Los Angeles. He is devoted to developing, guiding, and creating the perfect space for students to start, continue, or deepen their yoga practice.

With over 1,000 hours in training and over 7,500 classes taught, he has guided hundreds of thousands of students in Los Angeles and across the world in yoga, meditation, and mindfulness—both in large group settings and one-on-one.

Joe K started practicing yoga in 2009. Two years later, he began teaching hot yoga and dreaming of designing his own practice space where he could connect his love and passion for yoga with his community of family and friends.

Developing, composing, and sharing a practice that resonates in his body and intuitively translating that experience for students is his deepest love. He is known for the personal attention he gives to students each time they return to mat, breath, and body.

------------------------------------------
➤ How it works:

We open with a special warmup yoga or movement class facilitated by a skilled practitioner. The opening class blends seamlessly into the the two hour freeform dance journey facilitated by our guest DJ. At the end of the DJ set we close with a sound bath or group exercise to ground and complete the experience.
